How to Store Cantaloupe

Cantaloupe, rockmelon, sweet melon or spanspek is a melon that is a variety of the muskmelon. It provides a lot of nutrients due to its range of minerals, vitamins and anti-oxidants. It is also refreshing and healthy fruit that is best to eat or drink in the summer.
Here are the following steps to store your Cantaloupe:

Avoid storing whole cantaloupe at a temperature less than 50 °F (10 °C): If they are kept at a temperature under 50 °F, they may sustain chilling injury and will likely result in loss of sweetness, dryness, and fast deterioration. Always check the setting of your refrigerator temperature to ensure that it is higher than 50 °F.

Keep cut cantaloupe in the freezer for long-term storage: Cut cantaloupe into cubes for storage before they ripe or go bad. Cantaloupe pieces can be kept for up to 12 months in the freezer.

• Store cantaloupe pieces in freezer bags or airtight plastic containers.
• Flavor and texture of cantaloupe may deteriorate after freezing.
• Mark the date on the bag or container when you freeze it to remember when you have to discard the cantaloupe.

Refrigerate cut cantaloupe in an airtight container for up to 3 days: Place cut cantaloupe pieces in a resealable, airtight plastic container or airtight zipper-lock bags. Keep it in the fridge for no more than 3 days before discarding it.
