How Much Water Should You Drink?

Let's talk about water. How much water we should drink each day? Experts says that there's about 60 percent water in our body.


The body constantly loses water throughout the day, mostly through perspiration, breath, urine, sweat and bowel movements. To prevent dehydration, you must replenish its water from drink and food everyday.

The U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine determined that an adequate daily fluid intake is:

"About 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids a day for women and 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids a day for men."

20% of  daily fluid intake usually comes from food and the rest from drinks. Above data are the recommended cover fluids from water, other beverages and food. 


Fresh produce offers the fluids and electrolytes needed to keep your body performing. Choosing to eat fruits and vegetables that are naturally filled with water is another way to stay hydrated without having to focus on drinking from a bottle.

Eat a piece of your favorite fruit like an apple, pear, lemon or orange during the day to increase your water levels.
